Prior to starting October Kitchen in 2000, Chef Paul Finney was the head chef at Main and Hopewell restaurant where he and his wife Alison first met, worked together and eventually married.  In 1997 Paul and Alison’s work, he in the kitchen and she in the front of the house, were awarded with an “Excellent” by the New York Times.

Chef Finney is a graduate of Johnson and Wales University and has worked throughout New England. From Olives in Boston under Todd English to under Master Chef George Karousos at Rhode Island’s acclaimed Seafare.

After fifteen years rising through the ranks of fine dining Chef Paul decided to make a change.  When his daughter Audriana came into his life it was time to innovate.  Chef Paul hung out his shingle and for the next ten years he was a personal chef to dozens of Connecticut households.  During this time he gained a new inspiration, not just cooking delicious food, but healthy food that clients could love and live better because of. He created custom meal plans, allergen-free meals, special diets and vegetarian.  As Hartford’s premiere personal chef, he gave many cooking classes and corporate demonstrations.  Never satisfied he wanted to find a way to satisfy the huge need he saw for delicious, healthy meals for the people who needed help in the kitchen.

In 2000 Chef Paul’s inspiration arrived, his grandmother moved in to his boyhood home due to declining health. His mother soon became overwhelmed as a caregiver, wife and full-time employee. So, she asked for some help with meals, and this became the genesis of our current delivery service. Bootstrapping his way up from a tiny part time rented kitchen space and 3 families in need, to a modern cutting edge high tech production kitchen with over 4,000 clients; Chef Paul is delivering on his promises.

Founded in the belief restaurant meals are great occasionally, but nothing beats home cooking, unless your home cook is a professional chef with a team of skilled cooks and chefs who produce healthy home-style meals that are fresh and ready to eat. Delivered weekly right to the client’s doorstep. Like a 21st century milkman, October Kitchen is Home Made Easy.

October Kitchen is named for Chef Finney’s favorite month, where Halloween and his birthday are back to back. Reminiscent of joyful family celebrations, cake, presents, candy and costumes, October is a marvelous month. A quintessential month of natural beauty, harvest, color and abundance, we at October Kitchen hope to make the autumn of life the sweetest and most enjoyable.
